About the FD calculator
A fixed deposit (FD) earns a fixed rate of interest for a set period. Most Indian banks compound FD interest quarterly, which this calculator assumes.
Interest on FDs is taxable at your income-tax slab rate, and banks may deduct TDS.
How to use it
- Move the sliders, or type a value into each box.
- Watch the results and chart update as you go.
- Try different assumptions to see what changes the outcome most, then talk to us about a plan.
The formula
A = P × (1 + r ÷ 4)4t
- P: deposit amount
- r: annual interest rate
- t: time in years (compounded quarterly)
Example
A deposit of ₹1,00,000 for 5 years at 7% would mature at about ₹1,41,478.
