About the Inflation calculator
Inflation means prices rise over time, so the same amount of money buys less in the future. This calculator shows what something costing a given amount today may cost later, and what today's money will be worth in future terms.
How to use it
- Move the sliders, or type a value into each box.
- Watch the results and chart update as you go.
- Try different assumptions to see what changes the outcome most, then talk to us about a plan.
The formula
Future cost = cost today × (1 + inflation)years
- Value of today's money = amount ÷ (1 + inflation)years
Example
At 6% inflation, something costing ₹1,00,000 today may cost about ₹1,79,085 in 10 years, and ₹1,00,000 then will buy what about ₹55,839 buys today.
Inflation Calculator: common questions
