About the Mutual Fund Returns calculator
Mutual fund returns depend on how you invest. A SIP adds a fixed amount every month; a lumpsum puts all the money to work at once.
Choose SIP or lumpsum, enter the amount, an expected return and the time period, and see what your investment could grow to.
How to use it
- Move the sliders, or type a value into each box.
- Watch the results and chart update as you go.
- Try different assumptions to see what changes the outcome most, then talk to us about a plan.
The formula
SIP: FV = P × [ (1 + i)n − 1 ] ÷ i × (1 + i) · Lumpsum: FV = P × (1 + r)t
- P: monthly (SIP) or one-time (lumpsum) amount
- i: monthly return; r: annual return
- n: months; t: years
Example
A SIP of ₹10,000 a month for 10 years at 12% could grow to about ₹23,23,391; a one-time ₹5,00,000 at 12% for 10 years could grow to about ₹15,52,924.
Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks, read all scheme related documents carefully. Past performance is not indicative of future returns.
